What I offer: For overnight pet travel.
Your pet will stay in pet friendly hotels that range in price from $125 to $250 a night (including pet hotel fee/deposit). We have no problem upgrading to higher end hotels if the quote covers those expenses. What is very important is your pets' safety ,the driver gets proper rest and the vehicle is safe in a more secure parking lot for overnight stops. I totally understand some clients can't afford Holiday Inn pricing for their pets, we due offer budget price pet friendly options too and no pet friendly hotel options is available if ideal weather conditions allows the dismiss of pet friendly hotels.
We stick closely to the pet's feeding schedule. Exercise/potty breaks every 3 to 4 hours, offering water and many photos especially if dog hikes are allowed on the trip. Please see my profile photos for all those awesome happenings. Typical driving day 450 to 600 if great travel conditions. If I am in a snow zone or have to deal with Long Island traffic, those days are 200 to 400 miles.
Additional Info, tips to ask other pet transportation providers and cautionary measures:
*My Mercedes Benz gets about 17 mpg in flat country and 10mpg in mountain. My base charge: $0.71 a mile which is a ¼ of what the VIP company charges their clients. If you want to split your route expenses with one other pet household. I do offer that as an option. Its known as “Pet rideshare”
For cats being transported due to the extremely large size of my van, I am able to move your cat(s) from their transportation carriers to the cat litter box crate during rest area, gas station breaks without opening the van doors. Ask your pet transportation provider “How do they manage cat litter boxes for the cats at rest areas?” “How often do you offer potty breaks for cats?” "What type of vehicle do they use for cat transportation?" "You are using a SUV, how much Liability insurance do you have if my house cat escapes while you are trying to move it from carrier to cat litter box?"
Thank you for considering our services. We look forward to transporting your furry friend soon.
*The current IRS Standard mile deduction is $0.67 a mile. If you are seeking VIP or Solo prices for your pet. The bidder should never be bidding below the “ IRS Standard mile deduction”. If they are offering lower rates than $0.61 a mile, they might have other pets or are transporting other items. Sometimes, these drivers might be heading home and cut breaks below the mileage. The Key is to ask a lot of questions. Do some math yourself to test your pet transportation providers honestly or knowledge of the route. AAA or Gas Buddy Trip calculator can help you test the transportation providers quote. Ask them their Make, Model, year of vehicle, type of Fuel, put that info into those trip calculator web pages. If their quote is below the fuel cost, definitely ASK a LOT of QUESTIONS! Some sample questions and tips during extreme weather conditions below.
---Questions I would ask a pet transportation provider if my dog, "Miss Freddie McQueen" was going on a cross country pet transport:
"How many pets are you transporting besides my own?"
*"What items are you transporting?"
*"My pet is precious, is it going to be treated better than your million dollar cargo load?"
*"I've noticed your quote is far below your vehicles fuel consumption, how are you able to afford to complete this trip? Are you transporting other items or other pets?
"Are you a door-to-door service provider that will start the delivery and will be the same person completing the delivery? I've noticed many drop-off photos on your page with happy clients and no photos of yourself handling pets, are you going to show me your ID at pickup/dropoff? If you aren't a door-to-door service, who is going to be transporting my best friend, my dog/cat?"
*"I'd love pet friendly hotels of Freddie, Will you take photos of my dog in the pet friendly hotel room each night?"
*"I'm cool with her riding as pet rideshare or "multiple pet options; do request vaccination records from your clients? What precautions do you take to keep my dog safe from other dogs that you are transporting?"
*"I am buying a puppy that is being transported? The breeder says its older than 8 weeks but isn't sure. I haven't heard if its even had its first parvo shot. How do you protect my puppy from this life threatening disease that can be picked up at common stops like gas stations, dog parks, animal relief areas at airports; etc?"
--- End of sample Questions ---
--- Precautions ---
*Please don’t ship or receive puppies before their 2nd parvo shot or are younger than 14 weeks before they leave their dog mother. If shipping puppies under 14 weeks without their parvo shots, please have the shipper send a sanitized or new crate with the puppy that will not be returned. The puppy shouldn't ever touch the ground at rest areas, pet friendly hotels, and never be allowed in dog parks.
*Parrots, birds and reptiles. Pet friendly hotels usually don’t accept these types of pets, please don’t send these pets during extreme weather conditions in case of road closures.
